Dear Friends,

It will be a dream come true. On August 16, 2023 I will be throwing out the first pitch at Chicago's Crosstown Classic at Wrigley Field between the Chicago White Sox and the Chicago Cubs. I will gladly state this again: I am throwing out the first pitch at Wrigley!! I am beyond thrilled (and nervous). I am excited to make this happen with my parents by my side. My 81 year-old father, a walking baseball almanac and dedicated White Sox fan, and my mother, a Cubs fan by birth and White Sox fan via osmosis, will be accompanying me onto the field.

In addition to this being a personal moment, it is my goal to turn this opportunity into a philanthropic one. Ever since my own experiences with cancer, I have made it my mission to raise awareness and funds for those affected by metastatic breast cancer through a non-profit organization called METAvivor. “30% of all breast cancer patients will metastasize, but only 2-5% of research funding goes to metastatic breast cancer. METAvivor is the only organization in the US that exclusively funds MBC research through a scientific peer-review process. Unless otherwise specified by the donor, 100% of every donation and 100% of proceeds from every fundraiser (after event expenses) goes into their research grants.”

So this is what I have decided to do, and I need your help. Allow me to introduce my First Pitch Fundraiser for Metastatic Breast Cancer. I have set up a donation page sharing all that I have here. And I am asking those who donate to include who they are rooting for along with their donation - the Cubs or the Sox. On the day before the game, I will tally up the results of the fundraiser's preferred team and I will wear the winning team’s jersey when I throw the first pitch. Being an authentic baseball fan, I must share that I was raised on the White Sox. My dog is even named after Harold Baines. Publicly wearing a Cubs jersey may be tough, but I am happy to do it for an important cause. (Sox fans, get moving!)

Thank you for your time, and please, join me and donate today.

Gratefully, with courage and health~

Jorie
